Ashley started his career in the Navy in roles such as Combat Systems and Electronic Warfare Director. From these roles he moved into managing Service Desks and IT Support and Service Improvement. In the last ten years of his career, he has managed IT Operations, highly available data centres and cloud solutions. He has implemented a highly available, redundant network spanning the state of New South Wales for the NSW Rural Fire Service. Other innovations he has implemented include designing and building operational applications and public informational websites in the cloud and supporting fire fighters on the fire ground through the development of mobile apps. For example, the RFS public website has been proven to support 10 million users in an hour. Ashley is currently acting as Director ICT and CIO in recognition of his ability to deliver quality service under pressure.
