Mark served in the Australian Army for 17 years from 1990 to 2006. Between 1994 and 2003 he undertook various regimental appointments in both the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Royal Australian Regiment.
Mark’s operational service includes a year as an Operations Officer with the UK Army’s Royal Highland Fusiliers and Household Cavalry Regiment in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1999. In 2003 Mark commanded a Combat Team security force in Baghdad, for which he was awarded the Commendation for Distinguished Service.
Mark undertook the Army’s Technical Staff Officers Course in 2000 followed by two years as the Project Manager for the Army’s Night Vision project. He was awarded an Australia Day commendation in 2002. In 2005, Mark served as the Senior Observer Trainer at the Combat Training Centre.
Mark joined Cubic in 2006, initially managing the operations of the Land 134 Combat Training Centre Live Instrumentation System. He coordinated Cubic’s joint US and Australian instrumentation support to EX TALISMAN SABRE from 2007 to 2011. In 2008, Mark became the general manager of Cubic’s start-up Australian subsidiary. As general manager he was responsible for Cubic’s Australian programs including Army ground instrumentation, Air Combat Manoeuvre Instrumentation (ACMI) for the Royal Australian Air Force as well as a range of training- related services.
Mark has a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts (Honours), a Graduate Certificate Technology Management and a Masters of Management Studies.
Mark enjoys kayaking and fishing, and resides in Townsville with his three daughters and partner Karen.
