Jemena owns and operates a diverse portfolio of energy and water transportation assets across the east coast of Australia. With more than $10.5 billion worth of major utility infrastructure, Jemena supply millions of households and businesses with essential services every day. As a provider of gas, electricity and water, Jemena have long term relationships with their customers and the communities where they operate. Jemena is backed by the strong resources of our shareholders, State Grid Corporation of China and Singapore Power. Jemena manage and provide services to over 23, 000 kilometres of gas pipe line in the State of NSW. The network distributes natural gas to 1.3 million residential business and industrial sites in Sydney, Newcastle, the Central Coast and Wollongong.
In this presentation, you will hear how Jemena in Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle and Wollongong have exceeded the NSW/ACT Regulator’s KPI’s through improved operational efficiencies via enhanced communications with the delivery of both voice and data using DMR two-way radio technology. In addition to this, you will not only understand how this communications solution impacted Jemena during the 2013 Blue Mountain fires but is being rolled out in other key operational areas of the Jemena business.
Managed by the Jemena Operations Centre at North Sydney, Jemena General Service Technicians (GST’S) operate in the field staff to manager and service the gas pipe line and associated assets. The GSTs provide the day to day front line services while the operations centre is tasked with managing operations including meeting regulatory deadlines and providing rapid response to critical gas network issues.
The Orion Network provides radio network access and console services to Jemena for both group and private voice, GPS, lone worker, messaging and field automation processes. This Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) solution is critical to the provision of real-time monitoring of utility services not only in Jemena’s operational service design and contract management for the regulator but also delivering better customer service and innovation to the utility sector – gas.
