Steve is the Executive Director of Nlets, The International Justice and Public Safety Network, located in Phoenix, Arizona, a position he has held since 2001. In this role Steve has worked to transform Nlets from a niche law enforcement interstate exchange partner to a national leader in information exchange creating and implementing national standards while driving the creation and implementation of numerous new data-sharing opportunities. The same Nlets that ran 200 million transactions across the US and Canada in 2001 will transact over 2 billion in 2018. Prior to coming to Nlets, Steve was the Director of the Criminal Justice Information Services Division of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA). His career with the BCA began in 1985 as a CJIS training officer conducting training and auditing in the field on state and national information-sharing systems such as Nlets and FBI CJIS Services. He left the BCA for four years to go to the Plymouth Minnesota Police Department as the Director of Police Services gaining valuable local experience before returning to the BCA to continue his career. He has a B.S. Degree in Law Enforcement and in Public Administration from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
