Elina Avela’s career in critical communication dates back to 1991 when she started at Nokia. In the early TETRA years since 1995, she was among the small group of employees who started to ramp up the business globally. Since then she worked for over 16 years in various project management, product management and global sales support positions at Nokia and EADS (later Airbus).
Joining Beaconsim, which develops and sells simulators for critical communication, Elina moved into the world of radio users, command and control room operators and virtual networks. During her leadership Beaconsim has expanded its customer base to 28 countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia. Nowadays she owns this and two other companies, including Roger-GPS, together with her husband.
Elina has lived and worked several years in Berlin, Germany, and Boston, US, and resides currently in Espoo, Finland. She has a Master of Science in Telecom and Business Administration from Helsinki University of Technology and is also an alumnus of IMD Switzerland.
