Erik van Vulpen

After completing his Bachelors in Business Engineering and his Masters in Marketing Communications in 1993, Erik embarked on a career in research, marketing and innovation. In Amsterdam, he was the first to join a McKinsey Alumnus to help establish a brand and innovation consultancy, which, over a period of 6 years, delivered Pan-European and Global brand innovation projects.
In 2000 he moved to Singapore, where he worked as a Regional Strategy Director for Samsung. On request of a former client from Amsterdam, he joined the CEO of Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore as AGM Marketing and grew Heineken with 17% in a market segment that was growing at 11%.
In 2007 he was headhunted to help Millicom divest their subsidiary in Sri Lanka by driving the marketing function, leading to the successful sale to Etisalat.
Since 2010, he calls Melbourne home. He was one of the earlier employees at nbn co, where he helped to set up foundational strategy tools, such as a nationwide customer experience measurement.
Erik has been involved in early-stage start-ups throughout his career, as Evangelist for Augmented Reality start-up Plattar, prior to joining the Centre for Technology Infusion.
