As more government agencies around the world consider, adopt and increasingly enforce requirements for sufficient performance of their radio networks inside buildings, there is significant focus on “best” testing requirements. Standards organizations regularly update their documents, constantly improving the requirements (NFPA 1225 and IFC 510 are examples). Following this, agencies must adopt and adapt these to their needs. We will discuss several approaches to this process, providing guidance to agencies in the process of updating or creating new codes. For those that must comply to these testing requirements (building owner/managers, construction firms, radio services companies, etc.) we will explore the test challenges and solutions, and what is expected by AHJs for compliance. We will used several case studies from experiences in the US.
