Luke Brown is currently the Assistant Secretary of the Disaster Preparedness Branch of Emergency Management Australia in the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs.
He is a senior policy advisor to the Australian Government on emergency management and disaster mitigation. He has extensive experience in disaster resilience and recovery policy and has worked closely with multiple sectors to deliver projects of national significance. He is currently closely involved in the work between Australian governments to progress a national public safety mobile broadband capability.
Luke also has experience at the international level managing EMA’s global outreach and implementation of Australia’s commitments under the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. Luke is legally trained and oversaw the Commonwealth’s legal involvement in the 2011 Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry and the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission.
