St John Ambulance in Papua New Guinea
Matt is the CEO of St John Ambulance in Papua New Guinea. He started his career with St John NSW and worked with the NSW Ambulance Service between 2010 to 2021. He is a registered paramedic and registered nurse with nearly two decades of experience in emergency medical services and mass-gathering medicine, and health strategy and planning.
Over the last 8 years, Matt has worked with St John Ambulance in Papua New Guinea. During this time he has reset the vision and strategy of prehospital emergency care and, expanded ambulance and emergency care systems in Papua New Guinea, through ambulance services, community health education and air ambulance initiatives.
Matt is passionate about advancing prehospital care systems in the Pacific to ensure that people can access good quality essential health care in time of emergency, regardless of how remote they live.
Matt lectured at Charles Sturt University and is now academic staff for Sydney University’s post-graduate critical care medicine program.
