Pre-Incident planning is critical to minimize risk and improve safe and effective response to emergency incidents – emerging technology will arm public safety with enhanced apparatus that aids their preparation. Since 2002, NIST’s Public Safety Communications Research Division (PSCR) in the United States has strived to bring advanced communications capabilities to first responders. During this session, PSCR’s Division Chief Dereck Orr will present current research efforts on mapping and tracking technology, then illustrate further testing on first responder visualization and interaction with that localization data in a way that meets their operational requirements.
